The Giants officially listed QB Eli Manning (right shoulder) as questionable for Week #2 on Friday. The good news is Manning took part in first team drills on Friday and the buzz around the team is positive. With backup Jared Lorenzen waiting in the wings, Manning is going to be a game time call. Coach Coughlin is anxious to see how Manning will be on Saturday after throwing today. A final decision will be made no later than 90 minutes before 1PM ET kickoff on Sunday.
The Giants listed K Lawrence Tynes (right calf) questionable on Friday but he was able to work without issue today. Tynes kicked today for the first time this week and pronounced himself fit. “I did everything today. I hit about 30 balls, so I went a little bit more than I would have on a (normal) Friday,” Tynes said.
Seattle WR D.J. Hackett (ankle) is out and Nate Burleson is expected to start in Week #2 along with
Deion Branch.
As we first reported earlier in the week, Shaun Alexander has what the team is calling a
sprained wrist. Alexander isn’t listed on the team injury report and he hasn't missed any practice time so all indications are he will start as normal.
Coach Holmgren said, "He sprained his wrist, and he feels really good about playing with that thing (a small cast).”
The Coach and Alexander don’t seem worried about this at all. Both are kidding about the entire thing.
Backup RB Maurice Morris (hip) is not expected to play in Week #2 action. He hasn’t practiced all week.
The Bengals officially listed K Shayne Graham (hip) as probable on Friday but Coach Lewis said he is fine. Graham did all the kicks needed at Friday’s practice.
WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh (knee) was listed as probable on Friday after practicing fully on both Thursday and Friday. Word is he’s set to go for Week #2. As a precaution, the team allowed TJ to rest on Wednesday.
RB Marshawn Lynch (illness) completed his 2nd day of practice on Friday after resting on Wednesday. He is on track to play against the Steelers in Week #2 action.
WR Josh Reed (thigh) has been limited all week including Friday and not someone to count on. He’s a questionable game-time call this weekend.
WR Joe Jurevicius (elbow) practiced again on Friday as he had on Thursday. He’s on track to start as normal.
The Dolphins got some good developments today as RB Jesse Chatman (knee) took practice with the team Friday. Chatman is now expected to play in Week #2.
The Vikings listed RB Tony Richardson (forearm) and RB Chester Taylor (hip) as questionable for Week #2 however both have been somewhat limited all week including Friday. Still, the fact Taylor was doing some work is a good sign. Treat him as a game time call but either way, rookie
RB A. Peterson is expected to carry the load.
QB Daunte Culpepper is now fully expected to start at quarterback for the Raiders as
Josh McCown left practice early Friday due to a sore foot.
Packers WR Greg Jennings (hamstring) missed practice again on Friday and despite being listed as “questionable,” Jennings is really more on the “doubtful” side. Look for Driver and rookie WR James Jones to start against the porous Giants secondary in Week #2 action.
Officially RB Vernand Morency (knee) is considered questionable but he’s not someone to count on this week. He was unable to take hard reps on Friday and is not going to be a factor in New Jersey this weekend against the Giants. Look for
Brandon Jackson to start for GB and fellow rookie DeShawn Wynn to back him up.
Packers TE Donald Lee (knee) is probable for Week #2 however he did not take a full team practice on Thursday or Friday so plan accordingly.
RB Carnell Williams (ribs) is a dreaded game time call. He’s been limited in practice all week but we’re told he was able to do
more each day. If Williams can’t start, Michael Pittman will fill in. Even if Williams dresses out, his ribs could quickly become an issue so be careful here.
The Chargers listed TE Antonio Gates (back) as probable on Friday and he’s expected to start as normal despite missing practice back on Wednesday. Gates finished the week without issue as he said he would on Wednesday at his press conference.
TE Greg Olsen (knee) will be a game time call this weekend against KC. Olsen was able to get some limited work in all week so even if he sits this week, he should be ready next week.
WR Muhsin Muhammad (ankle) was held out of practice on Friday to rest and remains probable for Week #2.
The Lions ruled RB T.J. Duckett (ankle) out on Friday.
Lions RB Kevin Jones (foot) is not expected to play this week. Jones remains a few weeks away but is taking part in some team drills.
The Saints ruled TE Mark Campbell (back) out for Week #2.
The Jets listed RB Thomas Jones (calf) as questionable on Friday. Jones was held back a little each day but he is expected to start Sunday. On Friday Jones said, “You don’t want to go 0-2. You don’t want to start off like that. It just puts you further in a hole. When you lose a game, you obviously want to come back the next week and get a win to get that taste out of your mouth.”
QB Chad Pennington (ankle) is a very iffy game time call and the Jets start late Sunday. Plan accordingly and look elsewhere. Given Pennington was limited all week we look to Kellen Clemens to get the start. As of Friday afternoon, Pennington was still favoring his leg and had a little limp.
WR Mark Clayton (toe) is a game time call but he should be able to go. Still, given the late start for the Ravens, Clayton is risky so look for other options.
QB Steve McNair (groin) got some work in on Friday and has a decent chance of playing however he’s a game time call and if you put your lineup in early you run the risk of a zero score.
WR Demetrius Williams (chest) has been limited all week but has a decent chance of dressing out. Still, he’s not someone to count on now.
WR Javon Walker (shoulder) took part in team drills Friday and should be fine despite being listed on the team’s injury report.
WR Drew Bennett (thigh) is probable for Week #2 according to the team. But Bennett was limited on Friday so he’s still a risky start given his fickle injury and last week’s late scratch.
Backup WR Bryant Johnson (hamstring) is questionable for Week #2. He was held back at Friday’s practice.
QB Tom Brady (right shoulder) took part in Friday’s practice session without issue and is set to play in Week #2 against SD.
RB Clinton Portis (team decision) rested on Thursday but had no reported issues on Friday at practice.
WR Greg Lewis (hip) returned to practice on Friday and is expected to be available in Week #2.
TE Matt Schobel (groin) returned to practice on Friday and is expected to backup LJ Smith as normal.
TE L.J. Smith (groin) took a full practice on Friday and is ready to play barring a last minute issue.
Rookie WR Laurent Robinson (hamstring) remains questionable for Week #2. Robinson has been limited at practice all week and certainly is not someone to count on.
TE Alge Crumpler took reps Friday after resting on Thursday. He’s fully expected to start as normal at this point.
The Jags made it official today and ruled K Josh Scobee (right quadricep) out. Look for John Carney to kick FGs for the Jaguars on Sunday.
As a reminder, WR Terry Glenn (knee) will not play in Week #2. The wide receiver underwent arthroscopic surgery on
his right knee Thursday morning, a procedure that could allow him to return this year.
